A time of thanks is needed every year and we had so much to be thankful for in 2011! It was a year full of times to spend with family near and far and full of memories we made with our boys! We had Thanksgiving with my family this year and we made it an all day affair to hang out and cook all day long!
The boys and I arrived early that morning to my parents house to help papa get the deep fryer all set up and ready for some turkeys later that night! Daddy headed out to the Annual Ward Turkey Bowl with his buddies early that morning!
The boys are trying on the safety gloves
This is where the turkeys will go!!!
On our way back inside papa notices some termites eating away at a tree stump he had so he stopped to show the boys! They could have watched those nasty little bugs for hours! ALL BOY!!!
My job for Thanksgiving was to decorate the dinner tables! It was my first time and I was proud of the outcome:)
The ladies of the family! What would dinner be without these hard working ladies:)
Our family picture!
So.....a huge part that I haven't mentioned yet was our crazy morning after I received the dreaded phone call from Jason saying come pick me up I can't walk...YIKES! Jason tore his ACL and shredded his meniscus playing football on Thanksgiving morning. My sister and I had to drive to the football field and pick him up, drive his truck home and take a look at the damage. After he asked me to help him get undressed to shower because he couldn't do it on his own I knew it wasn't good. Doctor appointments the following week after the holiday weekend and his MRI scan told the damage and surgery is in his future for sure:( So, needless to say, we had a gimp daddy for this day and the many weeks to follow.
Cousins Tori and Chase! I love this picture:)
The day had turned to night and it was time to get the turkeys in while we anticipated the arrival of Uncle Colton who was on a plane heading home from the Air Force Academy!
Glen is checking the temperature of the oil before sticking the turkey's in! The boys LOVED watching this whole process!
In goes the TURKEY!!!
Uncle Scotty cracked the boys up doing his "turkey" dance after a successfully dipped turkey!!!
Now the wait...enjoying some family time around the campfire helps distract the little ones!
Or maybe just for a couple minutes until throwing leaves and twigs in the fire became more amusing!
Time to check the turkey...ALMOST DONE!
YAY....HE'S HERE!!!! Uncle Colton made his safe arrival and we were all so excited to see him!
Welcome Home Bud!
The boys were soooo excited for their uncle's arrival and it was a teary moment to say the least when Kyler jumped in his arms and didn't want to let go!
This picture is one of about 15 that I just couldn't stop capturing the moment! Kyler hugged his uncle like they were best friends and it was such a sweet moment! The boys talk about him at college all the time and love him to pieces!
Colton couldn't wait to get his civilian clothes on so after he changed we snapped a quick family picture before we dug into our yummy dinner!
Colton and his girlfriend Lauren!
The boys were starving and didn't wait one second to dig in! YUM YUM!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
